Need an Official Record?
Choose the custodian based on the document, not just the person’s name. LaSalle County offices at the Etna Road complex generally operate Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but confirm current counter access before traveling.
- Court case files: use the criminal court case record instructions or call the LaSalle County Circuit Clerk Traffic and Criminal Division at 815-434-8271. Its counter is at 707 E. Etna Road, Room 141, Ottawa, IL 61350.
- Sheriff incident and county records: contact the LaSalle County Sheriff Records unit at records@lasallecountyil.gov or 815-434-8379. The public counter is at 707 E. Etna Road, Ottawa, IL 61350.
- Booking and current county custody: call the LaSalle County Jail at 815-434-8383. Jail requests may also be emailed, mailed, faxed to 815-431-4962, or delivered to the jail FOIA officer at 707 E. Etna Road.
- State criminal-history information: use the Illinois State Police Bureau of Identification. CHIRP supplies the public conviction-information process, while Illinois-licensed live-scan vendors handle Access and Review fingerprints for a person checking their own fuller Illinois record.
- City police reports: request the incident record from the agency that created it. Ottawa Police is at 301 W. Lafayette Street, 815-433-2131; Streator Police is at 204 S. Bloomington Street, 815-672-3111; Peru Police is at 2650 N. Peoria Street, 815-223-2151.
- Expungement and sealing: file eligible Illinois forms with the circuit court that handled the case. The Circuit Clerk can provide filing and copy information but cannot give legal advice.
For most county-held public-record requests, the direct starting point is LaSalle County Sheriff Records, 707 E. Etna Road, Ottawa, IL 61350, 815-434-8379. Describe the record, date range, location, known report or case number, and preferred format so the office can locate the correct material.
